During his address at the Namibia Local Content Conference 2025, NAMPOA Chairperson Mr. Eduardo Rodriguez Tamayo emphasised that Namibia’s growing exploration activity must translate into sustainable opportunities for the nation.

He highlighted that NAMPOA’s mandate is to foster collaboration and communication between the oil and gas industry, government, and society, in support of Namibia’s broader economic development goals, including NDP6.

Mr. Rodríguez highlighted that Namibia’s high operational and ethical standards provide a solid foundation for growth and create favourable conditions for effective collaboration between government and industry, positioning Namibia as a leading example on the global stage.

He underscored the importance of long-term planning and continuous open dialogue “together in unity” to ensure alignment & that Namibia’s oil and gas potential delivers lasting benefits. He reaffirmed that a phased, incentive-based approach to local content remains key to building sustainable capacity, preserving competitiveness, and achieving national development objectives.

He further noted the significance of the Industry Baseline Study (IBS) as a foundational roadmap for Namibia’s local content journey, providing data and evidence to guide implementation and measure progress. NAMPOA continues to work closely with the Upstream Petroleum Unit in providing input on the draft Local Content Policy to ensure alignment between policy design and industry realities.

In addition, NAMPOA’s partnership with Petrofund remains a key driver of academic alignment and industry education, ensuring that Namibia’s oil and gas growth is powered by local talent and skills.
