On 23 March 2026, NAMPOA had the privilege of engaging with the members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Natural Resources (chaired by Hon. Tobie Aupindi) and the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economy, Industry, Public Administration and Planning, in a session (chaired by Hon. Ipumbu Shiimi).
The discussion focused on Namibia’s upstream oil and gas sector, including:
the current exploration activities and development timelines;
the importance of a stable, competitive investment environment; and
a phased approach to local content.
It was an open and constructive exchange, with Members of the committees raising important questions on national benefit, transparency, environmental stewardship, and local participation.
As Namibia’s petroleum sector continues to evolve, engagements like these remain essential to ensuring alignment between industry, policymakers, and the broader national interest.
NAMPOA remains committed to transparent dialogue and collaborative progress across all stakeholders.
